Carey Hart teamed up with the Free Agent BMX guys yesterday for a Fox photo shoot at the infamous Orange YMCA track in Southern California. The guys had a lot of fun riding and hanging out with Hart. Whilst Carey is known for going big in freestyle moto he was certainly able to mix it up and held his own out on the track on his Free Agent BMX. Hart is an avid BMX fan and has been hitting up his local track a lot more recently with good friend and Free Agent freestyle team manager, Heath Pinter also pictured.

Fox Racing have come on board in a big way supporting the FA team for 2012 with a fresh look. The whole Freeagent team will be in Birmingham for the 2012 World Championships as Maris Strombergs and David Herman chase that Elite gold medal. Christian Becerine will be one of the favourites for Elite Masters while Stephen Llaralde looks to defend his 30+ Amateur title which he took in Copenhagen last July.

A few people have been talking on the forum about a new track popping up in Surrey so we went straight to C&K Contractors who are doing the work to find out the full scoop.

They’ve recently started on the site at St Marks Academy School in Mitcham Surrey CR4 1SF. Due to the infrastructure and space they have this will be classed as a regional track however the build quality of the track will be of National standard. An 8 week build is scheduled and when completed late April will be left race ready by the team. Approx length will be 320 metres, tarmac turns and a U in U design with a slight hip into and out of turn one. A Bensink safety gate is being fitted along with pens behind the start hill. There will be a 100 x 5 metre raised viewing area and the whole site will be fenced and floodlight.

St Marks will be using the track during the daytimes but they hope to attract riders and volunteers from the area to form a new club and run gate practice sessions and club racing.

This is the perfect opportunity if you live in the area to help get a new club off the ground and new blood into the sport. If you are interested in helping to form a club please contact kentbridgett@hotmail.co.uk who will forward your email to St Marks Academy who will follow up.

Things are definitely on the up in the South region with this new regional venue amongst other new projects planned later this year. C&K will also be back in the capital working on another new facilty in a few months time. With Brixton getting a re-vamp as well this year the London area have quite a bit to shout about before the Olympics.

2012 is the biggest year for UK BMX racing, with the Worlds , the Olympics and all the media focus around Shanaze Reade new facilities like the St Marks project will be seeing new user groups and will definately form a breeding ground for new UK talent.

Elite Men Final from Braintree National day 1 – 20011 :

Peckham BMX and Groove Racings Tre Whyte was on form this weekend in Manchester and for me was the standout rider of the talent squad in the Supercross event’s making both finals with consistent riding and smooth laps. Tre’s a great pack rider who is definately not scared to stick a move on his comp! Two of the talent riders will be selected for the squad heading to Chula Vista next month for the first World Cup race of 2012 and Tre is looking to put him self in the mix with this past weekend’s efforts.

We know Tre likes his R&B, Hip Hop and UK Grime so we caught up with him to see what “Top 5 tunes” were pumping out of his Beat’s headphones and getting him in the zone for the race:

This is definately the tune to play to your competition if you want to let them know who’s boss. Olympic Champ Maris Strombergs also has this on his playlist at every race he goes to as this is one of his favourite’s. So next time you’re under the squat rack, throw another plate on the bar, press play and visualise yourself crossing the line at the NIA in May with one hand in the air – believe me it works!

“Who’s riding tonight? What….”

The SX on Saturday night attracted over 60 riders from Europe and also from as far wide as Japan, Canada, South Africa Equador and Mexico. The NCC facility is definately going to see a lot more foreign visitors in the coming months as the Worlds top Elite riders prepare for a busy few months of International racing chasing those all important UCI points that will be vital in qualifying themselves and their countries Olympic spots for London in August. This facility prides perfect practice conditions for the Europeans looking to get their “big hill” practice in before Chula Vista World Cup next month in the USA.

Our GB squad’s impressive performance this weekend was a testiment that things are on the up and hard work is paying off. The “rookie’s” have all stepped up to Elite men this year and it was encouraging to see that Coach B’s mentoring has helped them find their feet quickly as they all showed encouraging signs at some point this weekend winning laps, looking smooth and confident. Liam Phillips really did show our foreign guests whose house it really is! His first 5 pedals are currently on another level and were unrivaled all weekend. His return to the BMX has definately put a new contender in the mix!

Sunday's final was exciting for the fans and luckily for us Liam's exit over turn 2 in the main left him "ok just a little disappointed" . This was BMX racing at it's best, two riders going neck and neck and nobody backing off, 100% commitment!

Over on the Official Worlds website they’re running a competition for anyone aged 18 or over to be the official tweeter for the World Championships in May.
