So thats it , the last national of year has just finished.
What a great year for UK BMX racing , fast racing ,a good mix of tracks and record rider numbers.
The mens Elite class has been fast and furious all year with a good mix of podiums , good to see Laurance Mapp back up there and scaring the young guns , Scott Waterhouse getting in the mix as well , along with all the usual suspects, Manaton,Phillips,Evans,Mcbride, Hill etc .
But it was Curtis Manatons that took the overall title this year , racking up quite a few wins along the way
Another standout rider of this season was Beth Shriever, taking her first win in Champioship women at Gosport WOW!! this girl has got a big future in BMX , she is holding her own against riders 5+ years older than her and she does it with so much style, keep your eyes on her!!!!
And what about the Hutts , 3 members of one family getting number 1 national titles , i’m not sure thats been done before.
Masters and Vets racing was off the hook this year , with Simon Holmans taking the overall title in Masters after some hard fought races with Hilly , Buday, Martinez and rest of the crazy gang, and a big shout to Matt Barnard who produced the shock win of the season at the first round , i don’t think he could even believe it when he crossed the line in first!!!
Ian Sharpe shook up Vets with his awesome power and jumping skills and come away with the No1 spot , closely followed by Pete Power , with Parker, Bryceland ,Jackson,o’brien etc all in the pack and getting quicker and quicker, i love watching Vets, it produces some of the best races , a lot of skill and a lot of sketchiness thrown in for good measure, Gunner is going up to vets next year , if he can sort out his gate then he will be one to watch out for.
So looking back , what was your best/worst track of the season ,who were your standout rider(s).
I think Perry Park track was up there as top contender, not to keen on the indoor at Manc , but that’s just my opinion.
My number one rider…….Beth Shreiver.
So where would you like to see National races next year, are there any new tracks out there you’d like to see at National at? there seems to be new tracks popping up everywhere at the moment , which can only be a good thing for the sport.
So thats that , see you all at the Brits at Perry Park , keep your eyes on BmxTalk for a few bits of Brits history in the run up to the race.
