Aldersley High School BMX Track

The students at Aldersley High School have just had a BMX Track built on their school grounds, thats right, what I’m sure all of us has dreamed of having when we were at school has been done! The Track was built by Jason Carpenter, and features a Bensink gate, below is the full press release with all the info you’ll need to know.

Aldersley High School BMX and BMX Pump Track

Aldersley High School is dedicated to helping improve the sporting facilities and opportunities for children and young people in the local community.  With this in mind we are currently in the final stages of completing our Regional Standard BMX Track and associated pump track.  Whilst it is a BMX training/racing facility, MTB bikes are also suitable for use.

The BMX MTB Track features a Dutch made Bensink starting gate which.  The main track can accommodate 8 riders per race and is the only track of its kind in the immediate Wolverhampton area.  Indeed it is the only BMX race track at a secondary school in the entire UK.  The track includes a wide variety of jumps including step-ups, doubles, pickup doubles, triples, 2 double combinations and a rythym section.  The pump track is designed for one person at a time and should be used by novices and experts alike to practice on or warm up before moving on to the main BMX track.

One word of note is that riders must be competent at riding in a ‘Standing up’ position with feet flat prior to attempting to ride either BMX track.  So get practicing those figures of 8 and bunny hops now!

The diggers are due to move off-site the last week in November 2011 with landscaping and general tidying to commence the following week.  We hope to have the track available to use in the New Year and also hope to begin our collaboration with the Wrekin Riders BMX club at the same time.

After the track has become established we hope to start a BMX club in our own right.  It will have exclusive access to the tracks and their associated facilities.  There are also possible plans for a clubhouse and secure storage for equipment.  Anyone interested in getting involved in the new Aldersley BMX Club please get in touch.
