Birmingham was a National of cracking highs with your 1st National win and then followed by a day 2 crash that resulted in some seriously bent bars, How was the weekend as you viewed it ?

Yeah Birmingham was great! Nice little bit of luck in the final on Day 1 but hey ill take it :D. Felt awesome to finally win an Elite National after 3 years of racing it. Sunday went downhill, the moto’s were great, better then Saturday but that light shower we had just before the semi made the berms a bit slippy and I just hit the deck! It was a great weekend overall though with a great team area and just general high moral. I think people are happy to race outside after spending so much time at the indoor over the winter. Well done Birmingham BMX.

Your new sponsor Twisted Concepts BMX look to be backing you amazingly, was it an easy decision to make going to the unknown team ?

No, not at all. I didn’t know Paul and had never heard of Twisted Concepts, but after discussing the plans he had for the year and the people he had on board it seemed like it would be a great team to be part of for 2016. Which it is! I can’t thank him enough for everything he’s done for me already.

Tell us about your current bike…. it’s lengthy but what makes it special?

Im on a 23″ Turn3racing frame. They are made at SOL in California. It has a Onyx ultra SS wheel set, which spin amazingly. All the bolts have been swapped out for Titanium ones, its crazy the weight you can save. The whole bike just feels great and comfy.

Your travelling to Colombia with Charlotte on the ZellTours trip but are unable to race, Looking forward to the trip & where do you stand on the decision to not let Elites race?

We are really excited for it, it’s going to be great hanging out with mates in the sun riding bikes and exploring. Yeah that decision sucks! if they filled the spaces with other Elite riders then fair enough but the fact that there is unfilled spaces seems silly. It doesn’t cost BC anything to let us ride, what have they got to loose? Its going to be a awesome trip anyway! 😀

Whats next for Billy, any big races or trips after you return from Colombia?

I was planning on doing Papendal but after the hard hit last Sunday I decided it would be better to save the money and rest up properly. Obviously I’ll be at all the nationals for the year. The European Champs in Verona is on the list but the most exciting is America for the Rock Hill and Sarasota Super Cross rounds. Big year planned out, lets hope it all sticks together.

Anyone you would like to thank?

Thank you Paul and all of the team sponsors, Charlotte and Brett Knight for really helping with my training. Adam Dowsett @fatboifitness my trainer at Brunel University and everyone that wished me luck and congratulated me at the races. Thank you BMXTalk for making me standout rider.
