Bordeaux announced as host of 2017 BMX European Championships
The announcement follows the signing of an agreement between the UEC and the French Cycling Federation (FFC), as well as representatives of the Stade Bordelais BMX club, who are set to organise the competition.
Competition is set to be held on a temporary track which will be constructed in front of Place des Quinconces, one of the largest city squares in Europe.
The UEC believe the venue will be ideal for the cyclists who will be taking part, with fans expected to be attracted to the event due to its city centre location.
It will also conclude a series of BMX initiatives which are planned to be held in Bordeaux ahead of the annual event, including the French National Championships which will take place the week before.
Both competitions are set to be held in early July, although exact dates have yet to be finalised.
The 2016 edition of the BMX European Championships is scheduled to be held in the Italian city of Verona from July 8 to 10.
