Help get a new track in the Midlands

Even if you are not in the Midlands please click the link at the end of the post and click LIKE on Facebook. It will take you 30 seconds but could help get another new track going in the UK.

Right, those of you in the Midlands will know that there isn’t a track in Ashby at the moment, but one day there will be…..I hope

Here’s where I need your help. The Town Council are being very supportive and have agreed in principle that a track would be a good idea, but they need to be able to demonstrate that enough people want one. The first stage is therefore to get as many people as possible to say that they support the provision of a track in Ashby and the simplest way of doing this is on Facebook. I have set up a page “Ashby de la Zouch BMX Track” and need as many people as possible to visit the page and like it! You can also leave comments on there; ideas about what would be good to have and anything else constructive would also be welcome.

The simple plan is to create a regional standard track, but I also need to be able to demonstrate that the wishes of the populus at large have been considered, so thoughts on what type of track, jumps, etc. would be welcome, but be realistic.

Again, those of you who live in Ashby may know that the skatepark is also going through consultation at the moment and the track plans have no bearing on this, so it’s not a case of one or the other, we can have both so don’t worry that getting a BMX track means no skatepark upgrade.

I would also like to hear from anyone who has already gone through this painful process, battling the red tape and Bureaucrats, with any suggestions on how best to make this work and generally to share their experiences. I would also welocme contact from anyone that is local to Ashby that would be prepared to help out. In turn, if there is anyone out there that needs help and support with their track plans, I would be happy to help.

For those not on Facebook or that have an aversion to social networking, you can also pledge support on these fair pages, may even set up a poll for those who like that sort of thing

Thanks for your help and support
