I would think you will all know the brand ‘TomTom’ as makers of Sat Nav’s, well now they are entering the Action Camera market and going straight for ‘GoPro’. The fact they use ‘Hero’ in their advertising wasn’t lost on me….
TomTom’s Bandit which costs £300 can capture 1080p video at up to 60fps and 4K at 15fps, as well as 16MP photos. Also has a range of modes like burst and time-lapse to choose from as you would expect from a camera at this price point. The interesting thing for me is the cameras ability to ‘Tag It As It Happens’ the in-camera motion sensors and GPS help to pick out the most exciting bits of your footage, using a combination of acceleration, G-Force and your own heart rate (if you’re paired with a monitor). Those moments will then be tagged with icons when you’re watching through the footage.
Now I’m a big user and supporter of GoPro but this camera does have some interesting features, but to jump ship from the GoPro for the new kid on the block…… I’m not sure I’m that brave just yet.
