Maris Strombergs season round up

Reigning Olympic Champion, Freeagent / Rockstars Maris Strombergs recaps on 2012:

It’s been a great, tough, and long year mentally and physically. Due to some health issues through out the year a lot of times I didn’t perform as good as I wanted to, at times it just made it tough to train and race. There were two races that were on my mind all year the Worlds and Olympics. I wish I would have done better at the Worlds, but there is always next year and another opportunity. Going through the whole year with the Olympics on my mind at times I kind of found it hard to deal with, but at end of the day it all worked out and all the hard work paid off. Growing up I never thought I’d be able to call myself a two time Olympic champion!

After winning the Olympics it was hard to keep myself motivated, my mind set just wasn’t in it anymore. I felt like a lot of times I had to drag myself to go to the gym that is why I decided to end this season early and skip ABA Grands again this year. I will be going back home to Latvia in December and staying a couple months to train for next year. As far as next year not sure yet how much and what races I’ll be doing but the plan is to be ready for the World Championships in New Zealand. Big thanks to all my sponsors Free Agent, Rockstar, Fox, Kenda, ODI, KMC, Shimano, Snap, Velo, Stealth for a great year and all the support through out the year.
