Men’s Olympic spots..

Well the final list of quaified nations has been announced following the weekend’s last chance for qualification for London 2012. There will be some very happy riders about right now including the likes of Danny Callaug who qualified through the Philipinnes this weekend. Equador have been given the last men’s place, it remains to be seen whether it will be Emilio Falla who has scored a lot of the cat 3 points at South American rounds, Fato Endara who’s qualified at World Cup’s or whether Alfredo Campo who is currently out following shoulder surgery after his crash in Norway back in April will be selected. Missing the Worlds may cost Alfredo, despite him being World Jr Champion in 2011.

Another interesting fact is that despite Connor Fields having all the US limelight recently with his impressive lap times and SX win’s it’s actually David Herman who has topped the US ranking’s and has the first Olympic spot for the USA. Connor Fields is most likely to go as the coach’s pick and will not have to qualify through the Olympic trial in June. A fellow US rider told me that Connor may still race the trials, but this may not be true so don’t quote me. The likes of Mikey Day, Corben Sharrah , Joey Bradford and co will be up in the trials. We’ll soon see if good results at the Worlds from Donny Robinson, Josh Meyers and Tyler Foaro will put them on the gate for the showdown. That event will no doubt get a crazy amount of web streaming hit’s as the fans tune into to see who will represent the US in London.

We’ll keep you updated as we here confirmation of which riders have been selected by there nations. Stay tuned.
