The UCI are proud to announce OAKLEY as Official Partner to the BMX Supercross Series
UCI BMX Supercross World Cup – Back and Better Than Ever in 2013
This weekend in Manchester, England, the world of BMX will kick off one of the most highly anticipated seasons in the sport’s history. Coming off of a successful 2012 London Olympic Games, only the sport’s second appearance at the pinnacle of sporting competition, BMX Racing continues with its most important series of races, with Oakley by it’s side. Oakley will return as an official sponsor of the 2013BMX Supercross World Cup series.
Ten years after the sport’s introduction to official competition, UCI BMX Supercross World Cup remains a strong and thriving sport. Revitalized following a successful second Olympic Games this summer in London, the World Cup series carries on with the sport’s top riders ready to begin their quest towards Rio 2016. Many of those top BMX Supercross riders come from the roster of Oakley athletes.
All eyes will of course be on the defending men’s World Champion and 2012 Olympic silver medalist; Australia’s Sam Willoughby. Additionally, on the women’s side, reigning Olympic champion, Mariana Pajon of Columbia will take to the circuit, ready to back up her summer triumph. Don’t count out the sport’s other standards, with athletes like reigning US National Champ Alise Post, Caroline Buchanan, Shanaze Reade, Brooke Crain and Arielle Martin (to name a few) all gunning for the top prizes in the ever-growing sport.
Over 200 athletes from 26 countries will ascend on this seasons’ first event in Manchester, over the weekend, kicking off what looks to be another epic season.
