Profile World Factory Team

2016 Year Round Up

Profile World Factory Team – 2016 Year Round Up

The Profile Racing team made a much-welcomed return to the UK race scene this year, with the introduction of some heavy hitters on board. As always the team looked factory as f**k with the classic red, white and black recognizable from all angles. And with the brand new Hyper Mission 1.0 frames causing a stir in the pens it was all good in the Profile Team tent.

We asked the team for their highs and lows of the 2016 season….

Zoltan Buday – Masters

Highs –

  • Becoming a dad for the first time.
  • Finishing 4th on both days in Birmingham Rds 3&4.
  • A solid podium finish at Peckham Rd 8.
  • Riding Blackpool for the first time, cool track.
  • Telfords atmosphere, good times.
  • Finishing 5th overall in the Masters category against some fast guys.
  • Feeling physically and mentally strong for The Brits at Derby.
  • Winning every lap and then finishing 2nd in the 40-44 Cruiser class.
  • Finishing 7th in the Masters final at The Brits.
  • Making the A finals at every race.

Lows –

  • Not being able to get to Manchester indoor before the national.
  • Peckham Rd 8, not my best race, gutted.
  • The Pro section policy at Blackpool, didn’t make sense as we didn’t practice it. It didn’t feel fair.
  • Finishing 2nd in the 40-44 Cruiser final at The Brits (leading until the last turn!).
  • A few crashes this year, it hurts more when you get older.

After this season, I am so happy to be part of Profile Racing Factory World Team. I have got all the support from the team and they feel like a second family. Thank you for the support from #profileracingbmx #flyracingusa #maxxistyres #snafubmx #hyperbicycles #bmxtalk.

I can’t thank Chris Taylor and Gunner enough for everything, they have done a great job, and I have had a great year. Very much looking forward to the next season.

Kelsey Dixon – Championship Women

Highs –

  • Making the A Final in Manchester Rd1 at the beginning of the year.
  • Making the semi-finals at every National round.
  • Consistently being in the mix with the big girls. (although everyone is big compared to me haha)
  • Simply being a part of the Profile Racing Factory World Team

Lows –

  • Not retaining my national number 8 ranking in the Championship Women Class.
  • Only making that one final during the whole year (lots of 5th’s in the semi’s).
  • Not being able to perform to the best that I know I can.

Harley Taylor – Elite Men

Highs –

  • Making the European Championships final in the 17-24 Cruiser class.
  • Having the best summer ever staying with Tanner Engel out in Florida.
  • Getting to hang out with the whole Profile Racing family!

Lows –

  • I only have one low for the season and that is dislocating my shoulder at the start of the year and missing most of the races through injury.
  • I only managed to do three races this season but I am extremely happy with how I rode at all of them!
  • It has been an awesome season with the Profile Racing World Factory team!

Darcie Taylor – 14/15 Girls

2016 has been very good to me! Being able to ride for the Profile Racing World Factory team is an incredible feeling. At the age 14 I wouldn’t of ever thought that I’d be able to travel the world doing the thing I like the best. For me riding bikes isn’t just about the competition element, it’s also about the people who you meet. I’m lucky enough to have parents and family like I do that support me in everything I do.

Highs –

  • Colombia worlds and Italy Euros were the most amazing races I’ve ever competed in.
  • Becoming World number 3.
  • Becoming European number 6th.
  • Overall in the British BMX National Series, I managed to pick up National number 4.
  • I also made the podium at the British Championships with a 3rd place, which finally topped of the season nicely.

Lows –

  • Having to travel and spend my weekends with Harley (haha).

Gunner – Vets

Firstly having the opportunity to ride for the Profile Racing World team was an honour (and a shock!). I rode for Profile Racing back in 2005, so to be a part of the family again was a privilege and great fun.

Highs –

  • Making every A final at the British BMX National Series (the rounds I attended).
  • Making a podium for the first time in a very long time. 3rd at Peckham Rd 7.
  • Opening the box of goodies at the start of the season and building up a treat of a bike.
  • Competing at the Worlds in Medellin, Colombia. An amazing experience, good friends, good times… and didn’t get moto’ed.
  • Having a true ‘team’ behind me all season. Couldn’t of hand picked a better bunch of people.

Lows –

  • Unfortunately due to missing half of the British BMX National rounds (due to travelling and holiday) I had to submit my number 5 and ended up with National number 9.
  • Getting sick in Colombia… lets just say I was ‘running’ faster than Usain!
  • Fellow team members suffering with injuries. Never good not seeing the team on the gate.

Ollie Rowe – 15 Expert

Highs –

  • The main highlights of my season was having the opportunity to go to both the World Championships in Colombia and the European Championships in Verona. I had an amazing time with the rest of the GB team and of course my team mates.
  • Another high of my season has been being able to ride the SX track in Manchester on a regular basis, getting the opportunity to ride the big hill with a good solid bunch of people.

Lows –

  • The low of my season has to be me riding up an age group at Nationals and unfortunately not getting the results I exactly wanted. But it was a good learning curve and I can take it into 2017.

Matt Barnard – Masters

It’s been a real pleasure riding for the Profile Racing World team this year, not surprisingly there’s been more highs than lows and always a great atmosphere in the team tent (if any of you who were next door to us, or simply popped in to say hi will agree).

Highs –

  • Personally for me both Birmingham and Telford National rounds were the best. Great tracks, great atmosphere and good results for me.
  • The Columbia World Champs was an amazing time, riding with the team riders that went along for the trip, and taking it all in the sights and sounds along the way (#tonestours).
  • Another highlight of the year for me was the Profile Racing advert that ran in Pull Magazine featuring Zoltan and Myself, stoked on that.

Lows –

  • The only low points this year were the amount of crashes I kept having and subsequently because of a messed up elbow missing the British Champs at Derby. Roll on next year.

Lastly I’d like to thank all the people that make this great team possible.

Thanks to the whole team, the extended family, the factory for their support and all of the team sponsors – Profile Racing, Hyper Bicycles, Snafu, ODI, Fly Racing, Sun Rims, Monster Energy, Box Components, Maxis tyres, HRP Plates and BMXTalk.
