RIDER ROUND UP 2015

Scott 'BOOM BOOM' Beaumont

Rider Round Up 2015

Scott Beaumont

Final week of Round Up’s and we kick off with Scott ‘Boom Boom’ Beaumont. Scott has been in, out, back in and around BMX his entire life. Because Scott is still very heavily involved in Mountain Bikes and BMX racing we let him give us his answers for both, 4x and BMX.

My signed ‘Happy Minding’ plate 1995

Best moment of 2015?

4x – Leading the final at Fort William, round 2 of the 4X ProTour. Unfortunately turned into the worst moment of 2015 when I was passed by Joost Wichman in the last corner. Highs and lows of racing!

BMX – Finishing 3rd in Championship Men at round 1 of the 2015 National Series. Being double the age of most riders in this class, this was a good day!

Standout rider of 2015?

4x – Aiko Gohler – he came into 4X World Championships as an outside bet and left with the Rainbow Jersey.

BMX – Cal Strickland. Moving down from Elite, to further his career was a huge move. It payed off across the finish line in Zolder.

Favourite event of 2015?

4x – Fort William 4X ProTour

BMX – Zolder World Championships. Driving through the night from 4X ProTour in Poland to arrive in Belgium and soak up the World Championship atmosphere was fantastic. Good track, decent weather and a nice location made this my favourite event.

Favourite track of 2015?

4x – Szczawno Zdroj, Poland

BMX – Manchester Indoor. The most challenging BMX track in the World. I hear some people who do not like the track, but simply put if you persevere and challenge yourself on this track, then you will become a better BMX rider

Lights or beeps?

Both – Beeps always. No glare from the sun, head twisted at an angle. Just focus on the beeps.

Who’s going to win the 2016 BMX Olympics?

Liam Phillips and Caroline Buchanan
