Last weekend saw the launch of UK BMX’s newest race squad – Team-HARD. After months of preparation the team launched with a photo shoot at the race preparation factory of headline sponsor Team-HARD.com, the British Touring Car Championship racing team and car preparation specialist.
The collaboration between what was the Vandal Bikes BMX team and Team-HARD.com is not as random as it may seem, Team-HARD founder and owner Tony Gilham is none other than former BMX World Champion and multi time UK no. 1 from the 80’s and 90’s. Not only does Tony Have BMX in his blood but also shares with the Vandals team a strong sense of family values and a similar ethos, described in his motto -“Go hard or Go home”, to all his activities, whether that be racing bikes, cars or in business life.
Team-HARD. was formed by an elite group, fronted by BTCC driver Tony Gilham who wanted to revitalise and bring something unique to Race/Track car preparation industry, the business also runs the VW Scholarship racing program and is active all year round with hospitality, race day events and the introduction of the sport to anyone with an interest. The extension in to BMX was a natural fit for the organisation and will increase exposure of both sports and Team-HARD as a brand.
This year the team will be competing at all the British National Series races, all the South BMX regional races and will be making a full team entry to this summers European Championship.
The team is managed by five of the senior riders, Rich Stevens, Gary Munday, Daniel Sturgeon, Simon Croucher and Nic Preece, and has a fabulous team of riders from most age groups – Ian Letchford, Keith Bryceland, Dean Reeves, Gary O’Brien, Elliot Preece, Barnie Preece, Viktorija Galakvosciute, Karys Richards, Nick Oaten, Alex Munday, Ewan Munday, Lucy Munday, Grace Bryceland, Rossi O’Brien and Claire Goodwin.
Also giving fantastic support to Team-HARD. BMX this year are Factory Team Bikes, Ison Distribution, Reggiani Lighting and G Cinco Media.
