Cal Strickland is one of Englands top Elite riders, and as well as being pretty handy on a bike he also shreds on the guitar and has been known to tidy his room, and qualify through the time trials at the olympic test event in London this year. Below we have his top 5 favourite things we asked him about.
1 London SX
1 Mike Day
2 Steven Cisar
3 Nic Long
4 Kyle Benett
5 Khalen Young
5 8 haha
results you’ve had
1 Making the cut for racing at the Olympic test event is probably the result I’m most proud of so far.
2 National and British champ a few years ago
3 8x 2nd place finishes at Nationals since I started in Elite men haha, no wins yet.
Can’t seem to think of 2 more!
things about where you live (good or bad)
1 You can leave your BMX outside the shop for a few minutes without having to worry about it getting pinched, because everyone is too old and decrepit to ride it away (good)
2 There’s a park at the end of the road with enough space for about 10 BMX tracks but all there is is about 10 football pitches instead (bad)
3 It’s in the North West where all the raddest tracks are! (good)
4 It’s a long way away from most of my friends (bad)
5 We’ll finish off with it’s a pretty nice place on the whole (good)
Things you do that aren’t BMX
1 Play guitar
2 Play old games on my Gamecube or N64 because I’m too tight to buy a Xbox or PS3
3 Drink Brews
1 Machine Head
4 Black Sabbath
5 Lamb of God
Bikes you’ve had
1 S&M 38 Special – raced it for 2 seasons and still ride it now, love that bike.
2 The Free Agent I raced this year, rides great.
3 The Intense i rode in 2010, rode really nice.
4 JMC mini – first race bike
5 This tiny blue 16 inch i had when i was about 4, so rad.
