Winter has officially set in….dark night’s and cold mornings.. You’ve got to be pretty hardcore to have the motivation to get out out and hit the track at this time of year unless your lucky enough to live within an hour or so of Manchester Indoor… If like me this is the time of year where you hibernate then why not round up a little posse of mates and migrate South for a long weekend and sample some French tracks.
Each year the Dialled Bikes / Hardcore Hobbies and Sheffield crew head down to the Marseille area for their annual outing..
It’s really not that hard to sort out just get an Easyjet flight from Gatwick into Marseilles, hire a couple of small cars or a van depending on how many are travelling. The budget accomodation is cheap to say the least. For £25 a night you can get 3 in a room at the Fomule 1 Aix en Provence around a 30 minute drive from Marseille airport. Use this hotel as the base for your trip and you have a number of tracks, trails and skateparks to session many if which are under an hours drive. It’s easy to do the research to find some of the well known tracks and with a Sat Nav you’ve got no excuse to get out there and start checking off the list. Trets track is 15 minutes from the hotel and one of the better tracks so you’re first trip is nice and easy….
If you go in Mid February onwards you’ll be luck enough to get days when you’ll be riding in a tee shirt. Bearing in mind it’s still Winter you sure won’t be complaining about the weather…
So what are you waiting for, call the boys (or girls), get online, check the flights, hotel and hire car and get your holiday form in at work. For a few hundred pounds you’ll have a blast like these guys do every year:
