Worlds greatest comebacks – Dale Holmes ’96

Greatest World’s comebacks are hard to top when you’re in front of your home crowd… This is 1996 at Brighton UK, Dale Holmes comes out of lane 5 chasing down Randy Stumphauser who get’s the holeshot. Considering it was an outdoor event and the track was really spread out the atmosphere was nuts for the Pro final. Just 2 weeks before the World Championships went down a group of riders myself included based ourselves in Brighton for a training camp with Dale who had us practicing the move that he pulled what seemed like a hundred times. As the last corner approached I had a feeling the move was coming and it did! Victory in front of a home crowd is definitely priceless, the fans invaded the track, union jacks being waved throughout the grandstands, patriotic stuff for sure!

Let’s hope Shanaze or Liam can pull off a big win for the home crowd in Birmingham next month…I’m sure the UK crowd will take the proverbial roof off the NIA if a UK win is on the cards. “The worlds is just around the corner”….
