Hands On Test With
Profile’s New Nova 31.8 Stem
A few weeks ago we posted information on Profile’s new 31.8 ‘Nova’ Stem, now our girl Kelsey got her hands on one. Stu Dixon had the task of fitting it, he took some pictures and made some notes for us. So thanks Stu & Kelsey……….
BMXtalks & Braintree Bullets Kelsey Dixon received her new stem from Profile in the week, this happens to be one of the new Nova stems that take the 31.8 BOX Maximus bars Kelsey already uses.
The fitting was nice and easy with it just a straight swap for the old one, no issues at all, one noticeable point was that the top two bolts on these stems need to be tightened so there is no gap between the two part of the stem, the tightening of the bars is all done with the bottom two bolts, there’s also a label on there to let you know along with it engraved ‘no gap’ on the stem, we kept the sticker on until it was all tightened as it also helped a hinge instead, put the bars in place..flipped the front back over and screwed it back in place loosely to start until we had the angle of the bars needed.
Once on we pretty much went racing,a few laps at Milton Keynes EA regional to make sure it was ok…which it was.
The Profile Nova stem is for use with a 31.8mm handlebar (Box Maximus) and 1-1/8 steer tube.
Here are the specs:

– Available in sizes 48, 53, and 58mm.
