Speedline Pro Carbon Forks
We got a gander at these at Interbike last year when they were strictly proto-ala-moto. Now, they are on the shelf, and ready for you to roll into on-track traffic.
The Speedline Carbon Fork sports an aluminum steer tube, ready to accept your trick new 20mm front hub, or adapt ‘em down to work with your 3/8 female axle.
The price is right, at $239.95, and for more inside chatter on how the development process went down, we sent an encrypted communique to Smilin Bill Ryan, who signaled back the following:
The Speedline Matrix Pro Carbon Fork is the result of over four-years of trial and error, research and FEA design work. We didn’t want to build it to be just be another fork on the rack– the only reason to build it was to do it better than anything else on the market.
Our goal was “Lighter, Faster Stiffer, Stronger.” The Nano Composite Construction is a stronger and lighter way of manufacturing as it maximizes the amount of carbon and minimizes resin to produce a lighter, stronger and more durable part.
The Steer tube is 7000-series alloy, which has proven in testing to be equal-in-strength to a heat-treated chromoly steer tube. We have maximized strength by having the steer tube run the full length of the crown for maximum durability and structural integrity. To further maximize the heft, an integrated star nut is pressed-and-bonded into the steertube to add clamping reinforcement where the stem connects to the steer tube.
The 20mm dropouts are integrated into the carbon legs for maximum stiffness. We also designed 3/8″ axle adapters so you can run a female-bolt front hub (ie. Profile, Chris King, Supercross, etc… )– or run it “native” with a 20mm front hub.
That is all-the-way live in our book, and we know we’ll be seeing more and more of these in the lead at the nationals this summer.
