Moto’s: 2,2, 1 Qtr: 1 Semi: 2nd Final: 3rd

Saturday started off wet and muddy but that did’nt bother me too much. I was fairly happy with my Moto results and felt confident going into the quarters. Dad had put longer cranks on my bike and my gates were feeling good. I won my quarter and I was winning my semi but my legs felt tired and I got passed on the line. I had 3rd pick for the final and chose gate 1. I got a good gate and was leading up to the last jump on the 1st straight when Flynn went by me. I held on to 2nd until the last straight when again my legs got tired and I finished 3rd.

Moto’s: 2nd, 2nd, 5th Qtr: 4th Semi: 4th Final: 1st

The weather was better today and racing started okay. But in my 3rd Moto my foot moved on my pedal and struggled to get back to the front. I was disappointed with 5th. Dad thought my gearing looked too low so he changed it before my quarter. I was in 2nd in my first quarter but they stopped our race as we came down the last straight because there was a bad crash on the last jump. The re-run did’nt go as well because my gate was’nt so good. I got cut off and went back to 5th. I swooped into 4th in the 1st berm and held onto 4th to get through to the semi. I had gate 7 in the semi. I got out 1st but I did’nt get over enough and I got pushed up the 1st berm and went back to 5th. I dug deep and fought my back to 4th and I was happy and relieved to make the final.

In the final I had gate 8. I got a really good gate and came over to the inside by the 1st berm. I was happy with my lap, I knew my last straight was’nt my best but I just wanted to get over the finish line and win. I was so

Another relatively short 3.5 hour journey for us to get to practice in a sunny & warm Manchester for Friday practice! All went well but i struggled a little with the super slow gate.

Saturday/round 7: The heavens had opened overnight & continued through most of the day. The track held up quite well, it was a little slow & as the day wore on the tarmac berms became really slippy, but thankfully my new Maxxis Torch tyres did a great job & I never felt them losing any traction, so I was able to carve the berms a little more than my competitors!! I got 1st in all my Motos, 1st in my quarter final & just pipped on the line in my semi finishing 2nd. This gave me 3rd pick in the A’final, I chose gate 1, after some advice from team-mate & Olympian Kyle Evans!! In the final I got a decent start & took the ‘hole-shot’ into the first berm, I lead throughout the race and finished in 1st place!! My best ever British national result! Couldn’t explain how happy I was , I’m still on cloud 9!!

Sunday/round 8: Much drier weather today (which I was almost disappointed with as rain seems to suit me!!) Motos didn’t go quite so well as yesterday, with 1,2,2. Still pleased though against some super fast competitors! In my quarter final I nearly lost it on the 3rd straight when in 2nd place, my dad says it was ‘save of the day’ ! I managed to stay on & only lost one place finishing 3rd. This gave me 5th pick in the semi final, but from a far from ideal gate I managed to get 2nd. Again I got 3rd pick for the A’final, chose gate 1, got a little blocked along the first but managed to get myself into 4th going into the last straight. Unfortunately that’s where my race ended as I was forced off track by another rider in the final sprint to the finish. So ended in 7th place.

I’m concentrating on the positives from the weekend though & I’m delighted with my first ever national win! I hope it’s the first of many! Thanks again to all the #purefamily & our sponsors for the amazing support , mechanical help & advice .

Moto’s 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, Semi 3rd, Final 8th

The conditions on Saturday were difficult with the rain on and off all day and lots of riders crashing. I’m happy to say I managed to stay upright on my bike this weekend, and surprisingly I was not getting any wheel spin off the gate in the wet conditions, thanks Maxxis.

The moto’s went ok, I had a solid semi taking me into the main final, but my final was not a great lap coming in 8th (last).

Moto’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Semi 4th, Final 3rd

On Sunday I arrived at the track looking to improving on Saturdays result, and the weather was dry for most of the day.

First 2 moto’s went well, then on the 3rd moto I lost my gate technique which carried over onto the Semi’s, in which, coming down the start hill wheeling in last position left me with a lot of work to do to get into the final. Carrying good speed through the 1st berm down the 2nd straight into the 2nd berm I had now worked my way up to 4th and going on to earning a place in the final again. Before going into the final I had a chat with one of our elite riders (Quillan Isidore) regarding the start/gate, and the advice helped me get a solid start. I was running in 2nd place for most of the lap only to get passed right on the line leaving me in 3rd. It was my best lap of the weekend and I was satisfied to come away with that result.

Round 7: Motos – 2nd, 1st, 2nd Quarter – 4th Semi – 8th B Final – 1st

Practice was a very wet start to do the day but I went out to see what the track was like. The track rode well considering the rain, with a few soft patches dotted around the track. The motos went really well and I was consistently top 2 with a win in the second moto. Got to the quarter with first choice gate pick and I chose gate 1, I got pulled down the first straight and shut down. Exited turn 1 in 6th place and I just tried to stay close to the riders in front and saved my move for the last straight. Still in 6th half way down the last straight I kept on pumping and squeezed a very close 4th on the line. Gate 8 in the semi left me with a lot of work to do, I had my best gate of the day and come over on the riders on my inside. Hit turn 1 in third but being on the outside other riders they had a better line in the turn. I got pushed high and just run out of track space and ended on the grass, race over! Took the B final win from the outside.

Round 8: Motos – 1st, 4th, 2nd Quarter – 4th Semi – 4th A Final – 7th

Day 2 started good again with another good first straight from gate 8. 4th in the second moto wasn’t as bad as it suggests with strong riders in the race. In the quarter I just wanted a strong first straight that I knew I had in me to avoid a re run of the day before. That plan didn’t work out, getting tangled on the first jump with other riders left me back in 6th again. Complete re run of the day before! Chased the pack round and exited turn 3 in 5th this time, went for the pump all the way through again. Without a clear run this time it was more difficult but again I squeezed fourth on the line. The semi I had gate 8 again, but this time it did go to plan. A good gate and first straight left me in fourth out of turn 1 and I held this to the line. I had 8 again in the final and was hoping I could repeat my semi final performance. Needing to get over I went early and unfortunately hit the gate causing me to unclip and that was that. I was annoyed that I didn’t make the most of the opportunity having worked hard to make the A final but very happy I made it in the first place.

Manchester was my first national back after my injury so my expectations weren’t too high. Saturday didn’t go too great, I was struggling to get out of the gate well after injury and with it being such a tight track it was difficult to make my way back into good positions. Unfortunately, after not doing as well as I’d hoped I went out in the Motos. Sunday was sunnier and I had a better attitude going into racing. I felt as though my riding was a lot better but still struggled slightly. I managed to get a step further to the semi finals, racing slightly better. I hit the gate in the semi final and had to try and work my way from the back. There were a couple of hold ups around the track and the best I could do was 5th. Overall it wasn’t the best weekend but I’m looking forward to the next and hoping for some better results.

Round 7 -Saturday

Results cruiser: Moto’s 1st,1st,1st, Semi 1st, Final 1st

Results 20″: Moto’s 1st,1st,1st, Quarter 1st, Semi 1st, Final 1st

I was feeling good and looking forward to racing on my favourite track even though the rain had made the track a little soft. I like the slower gate and that helped me get good starts and get the moto wins I needed for inside gate picks. Some rain showers later on made the berms greasy so I was cautious after watching a lot of riders slide out. I managed to keep winning the qualifying rounds and lined up for the finals in gate one. With good starts and consistent laps, I took the win in both classes to wrap up the Vets title and close in on the cruiser title.

Round 8 -Sunday

Results cruiser: Moto’s 1st,1st,1st, Semi 1st, Final 1st

Results 20″: Moto’s 1st,1st,1st, Quarter 1st, Semi 1st, Final 1st
With no more rain, the track had dried out but the blustery conditions made racing a little sketchy. I kept up my unbeaten run and qualified for the finals although as normal, fatigue was a factor after 20 races. Taking the win in my cruiser final, I secured the series title which now takes me to 38 UK titles, my goal is to now make that a round 40 at the Brits in August. Backing up the cruiser win, I also won the Vets final to go unbeaten for the weekend and helped the team to increase our lead in the series standings. Proud of my boys results this weekend too with 2 seconds for Kyle and a great win from lane 8 for Jared.
